Our school lunches are freshly prepared each day at Bishopsteington School using local ingredients where possible, including sausages from Orsmans Butchers in Shaldon and bread rolls from Shaldon Bakery.
The three weekly rotating menu includes a main, vegetarian and a variety of jacket potatoes, as well as a packed lunch option each day. The current menu can be downloaded off this page, to the right.
The ordering system is flexible to fit in with your daily requirements - lunch can be ordered every day or on just one or two days a week, or not at all - the choice is yours.
How to order
Fill in a lunch order form. You can order and pay at the school office for the full half term in advance (our preferred method) or on a weekly basis, ordering by 9.30am on the Friday before lunches are required.
We would appreciate it if you could have the correct money ready and the form completed in advance.
Please enclose with your form, payment of £2.60 per meal in cash or cheque (made payable to ACE.)
Pre-ordered lunches will be cancelled if you inform the office of illness etc before 9.30am and your balance will be credited.
If you would like further information about our school lunches please speak to Sally Ellison in the school office (mornings only, or all day Wednesday).
Free School Meals
All children in reception, year 1 and year 2 at state schools in England automatically get free school meals. However, parents and guardians are encouraged to apply for free school meals when they enrol their child in school, as this can help their child’s school to attract additional ‘pupil premium‘ funding to support learning.
From year 3 onwards, children whose parents are in receipt of the following are entitled to free school meals:
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit.
Children who receive any of the above benefits in their own right (i.e. they get benefits payments directly, instead of through a parent or guardian) can also get free school meals.
How to apply
Through the Devon County Council Citizen Portal which is the quickest and easiest way to apply and will result in you getting an instant decision.
