Year 6 were delighted to invite their parents to the launch event in the school hall where they were treated to an evening of wine, cheese, information gathering and entertainment which went down a storm! Three crew members from the Island Trust attended, giving a short speech and showing a film to help everyone get the full flavour of what awaits.
Never a class to miss an opportunity, we also saw this as a fundraising venture with refreshments on sale, Bruno and Alfie's wonderful Lego tall ship on hand for guessing the number of Lego pieces used, stalls being set up by Chloe, Adrian, Ivy, Ava and Esther among others and a key event in the classroom - a photoshoot which many families and groups of friends took advantage of to buy a lasting memory in the form of a professional set of photographs, with all proceeds kindly being donated by Mike and Laura to the fund.
Thank you to everyone, including past pupils who came to share their experiences with us, (and to Joe Rodwell who also offered to entertain us on guitar).
We have made an excellent start to the fundraising and now need every group to get behind it with some great ideas to invest their fivers (kindly loaned by FOSS) into.
