As part of their literacy sequence on the fabulous book, 'Meerkat Mail', Year 1 have been trying out different forms of writing such as postcards, greeting cards and letters.
The children have been acting out scenarios in their own Post Office role play area, so decided to visit the local Post Office in Shaldon.
It was a beautiful, sunny morning when they walked round. Everyone chose a postcard and then bought a stamp to go with it. The children had to make sure they gave the cashier the correct money and asked for the right kind of stamp.
When they got back to school the children wrote their postcards to send to their families. We hope they arrive safely!
