Welcome to Reception Class
Class Teacher: Mrs J Youd
We are delighted to welcome all the children who are starting school for the very first time. This is such an exciting time for you all and for the first few days you will be able to explore some of the exciting learning in both the classroom and in our outside learning area. You will have the opportunity to meet some new friends, learn new routines and even have lunch in the school hall!
It is also an exciting time for parents! Please feel free to come into the classroom with your children in the morning and engage in some of the early morning learning that is on offer. Please remember that we have an ‘open door’ policy and are always available to speak with you first thing in the morning and at the end of the day.
Every Tuesday the children will have a music lesson and on Wednesday, a PE lesson. Please ensure that the children have the correct PE kit in school. The PE bag can be kept on their cloakroom peg. The weather may be changeable now that we have moved into the Autumn term and it is important that school coats, along will all school uniform, are clearly labelled, so that the children can take responsibility for looking after their personal belongings.
This half term we will be helping the children on their journey to become independent learners. Our circle times and the stories we read will support the children to identify different feelings in both themselves and their friends. In addition, we will be learning about the ways we celebrate important events in our lives and in the lives of the people in our family.
On Thursday 20th September there will be a Reading Meeting in the Reception classroom at 7pm. This is very important meeting and we ask that all parents attend. Following the meeting, the children will be bringing home their very first reading book.
Consultation meetings will begin in early October. A timetable for these will be available in the classroom
Please remember that we have an ‘open door’ policy and are always available to speak with you first thing in the morning and at the end of the day.
