Mrs Kirstie White
I have been teaching at Shaldon Primary since September 2001. I have taught in most year groups during this time but predominantly key stage 2 classes (Years 3-6). I have held a wide variety of different roles and responsibilities for leading subjects but at present l co-ordinate and lead Science and Modern Foreign Language (French). In 2005 l became a part time teacher after having my first son. I currently still teach two days a week as l now have two sons.
Before teaching at Shaldon l spent five years teaching key stage 2 classes in two schools in Newton Abbot where amongst other roles of subject leaders l was key stage 2 leader and an acting deputy head. I trained and studied at Cheltenham and graduated with an honours degree in Science and English.
In my spare time l enjoy spending time with my sons and husband enjoying the great outdoors, walking, cycling, camping, exploring and having adventures.
Mrs Susie Cairns
Following my desire to teach, I completed a BA Ed at Christ church Canterbury after which I moved back to my home town of London. Here, I started my first years of teaching in an inner London school where I taught in KS1 as well as being the lead for P.E. With a strong desire to travel, I continued my teaching career in Asia at the exciting British school of Jakarta. Here I spent 3 years working both in KS1 and KS2 as class teacher and developing the performing arts.
With my continual desire to travel, I then headed to the middle East where I taught for 2 years in the British school of Muscat. On returning home, I got married and have since had 4 children -2 sets of twins! My claim to fame! Whilst being at Shaldon, I have taught across the key stages and have driven a forward- thinking, creative curriculum incorporating all subjects. In my spare time, I enjoy lindy hopping, running and learning the double bass.
