This will be my first year teaching at Shaldon Primary and I am really eager to start in September. My teaching career to date has been in picturesque Yorkshire, predominantly leading Key stage 1 classes. I have taught two years in a mixed Year 1 & 2 class and a further two years in Year 1.
I have had a number of leadership roles and responsibilities including Science, Phonics and The Arts. I am also a Senior Leader in Education (SLE) with a primary focus on The Arts and Phonics. As an SLE I support teachers and schools around Wakefield. I also had the pleasure of mentoring trainee teachers.
I began my training to become a teacher at the University of Bedfordshire where I gained First Class Honours Degree in Education Studies. This degree gave me the skills to understand the theories behind how we learn and how we can use them to make the best impact. I then moved to Leeds Beckett University to complete my PGCE in Education where I gained an outstanding grade overall.
Now the time has come to return to the stunning Devon countryside to be closer to my family as this is where I spent most of my childhood. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym, catching up with friends and attending dance classes.
I’m really looking forward to joining Shaldon Primary and getting to meet everyone!
