Our Year 5 children were thrilled to receive responses from Clarence House last week. As part of our Citizenship theme, in which we learnt about issues affecting our local community, we wrote letters to both Network Rail and also to Clarence House, depending on how we felt about the plans to develop a new railway line along Teignmouth Beach. The children who did not support these plans wrote to Clarence House, as the stretch of beach affected is owned by the Crown Estate. Prince Charles's press secretary wrote back individually to each child, explaining how Prince Charles was delighted to receive our letters. He is also encouraged to discover that our brilliant pupils at Shaldon are showing such concern for our environment and matters of local conservation.
