Dear Parents and Carers, We are writing to update you following revised guidance published by Public Health England yesterday afternoon. We are aware that an increasing number of students are rightly self-isolating.
The official advice following yesterday’s announcement is that:
Staff and pupils should now stay home for 14 days if they, or anyone else in their house is unwell with a cough or high temperature. Otherwise they should attend school as normal.
Devon County Council continue to advise that:
If staff or pupils become unwell on site with a new, continuous cough or high temperature they will be sent home, unless the school is advised by the local Public Health Protection Team.
At this stage, we hope that Shaldon Primary School will be able to remain open unless advised to close by the national government. However, if we have a high staff absence we may need to alter or reduce provision. If we need to do this, we will inform parents as soon as possible.
If your child is self-isolating, please inform the office on the first day of absence. If you have any questions, please contact the school by phone or email (admin.shaldon@acexcellence.co.uk).
Yours sincerely,
Jenny Stewart Headteacher
